Previous Conventions

2nd November 2013 – The Symposium and Model Airship RegattaThe Regatta took place in the Sports Hall.  There were two elements to this exercise, a speed trial and a controlled lift trial; both took place around the same figure of eight course and followed the format that was used in the 2012 event.

22 to 24 August 2012 – 2nd Cargo Airships for Northern Operations workshop.  The University of Alaska, Fairbanks in collaboration with NASA Ames Research Center and ISO Polar held a follow-up workshop to the 2011 Alaska Cargo Airship workshop.  Further information, please see the conference web-site here.

20 – 23 June 2012.  The Airship Association 9th International Airship Convention & Exhibition.  Intended as a general Airship conference the subjects covered included scientific, design and maintenance, historical and finance.

2011 – Airships to the Arctic VI. The aim of this conference was to examine the potential of LTA in the heavy lift transportation role, specifically addressing the challenges that Canada and Alaska face in their attempts to exploit their natural resources. This series of conferences has been organised by Dr Barry Prentice of the University of Manitoba.

2010 – 8th International Airship Convention held in Bedford – UK

2010 – Point of Need Delivery (POND) Capability Workshop – US European Command, Germany.

2010 – Hybrid Airships for Heavy Lift Conference – hosted by the Patuxent River Partnership in Maryland USA.

2009 – Airships to the Arctic – 5th International Symposium held in Calgary, Canada; organised by ISO Polar. Exploring the potential of heavy lift Airships or Hybrids in opening up the Arctic regions of Canada and North America, where conventional transport infrastructures are prohibitively expensive, and some unique challenges are posed by the weather patterns. 2008 – 7th International Airship Convention held in Friedrichshafen – DE. This conference was organised by DGLR in association with the Airship Association. A general LTA convention, which incorporated other LTA related symposiums.

2006 – 6th International Airship Convention held in London – UK

2004 – 5th International Airship Convention held in Oxford – UK

2002 – 4th International Airship Convention held in Cambridge – UK

2000 – 3rd International Airship Convention held in Friedrichshafen – DE

1998 – 2nd International Airship Convention held in Bedford – UK
